Network licence variation – Power and Water Corporation

The Commission varied Power and Water Corporation’s network licence to remove clause 3(c), so that the licence does not contain a specific expiry date and is granted indefinitely (unless surrendered or cancelled under the Electricity Reform Act 2000). This approach is consistent with all other licences issued by the Commission, which do not include a specific expiry date.

The Commission also took the opportunity to remove references to obsolete codes and legislation from the network licence, in particular the Network Access Code and the Electricity Networks (Third Party Access) Act 2000, following the adoption and application of the national electricity framework, modified for the Territory’s circumstances.

Following the Commission’s recent review and revision of the Electricity Retail Supply Code, clause 26.2 was removed and clauses 27.1 and 27.2 were amended to be consistent with the revised code.

The network licence was also modernised to include the Commission’s new logo and to correct minor formatting and typographical errors.

The Commission consulted with and sought the agreement of the Power and Water Corporation to vary the licence as proposed. Stakeholders were given to opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed revised licence, with no submissions received.
