2023 Port of Darwin Access Policy approval
In accordance with section 127 of the Ports Management Act 2015, the port operator is required to have an approved access policy. The purpose of the access policy is to provide a framework for port users requesting access to prescribed services, the approach to be taken by the port operator in determining access, and the terms on which access will be provided at the Port of Darwin.

The Commission approved the port operator’s draft Access Policy for the Port of Darwin on 2 November 2023.
On 12 October 2023, the port operator provided a new draft Access Policy, which takes into account requirements under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), to the Commission for consideration and approval.
The Commission must approve a draft access policy if it meets the requirements of the Ports Management Act 2015 and the Ports Management Regulations 2015, and any matters specified by the Minister by Gazette notice.
The Commission approved the amended draft Access Policy on 2 November 2023. The approved Access Policy of Darwin Port Operations Pty Ltd replaces the port operator’s previous Access Policy.
