The Commission approved and issued a generation licence to Assure Energy Asset Pty Ltd as trustee for the Assure Energy Asset Trust, with effect from 29 January 2021.
Assure Energy Asset Pty Ltd as trustee for the Assure Energy Asset Trust sought a generation licence in relation to the construction, ownership and operation of a 10.874 megawatt (MW) and a 3.62 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) generation facilities on the Darwin-Katherine electricity network and to sell electricity primarily to the Department of Defence, with any surplus sold to other electricity entities holding a retail or generation licence.
Following consultation, the Commission approved a generation licence to be issued to Assure Energy Asset Pty Ltd as trustee for the Assure Energy Asset Trust to generate electricity from the two solar Photovoltaic facilities to sell the electricity to other electricity entities holding a retail or generation licence, and to the Department of Defence at Robertson Barracks and RAAF Darwin. The approval was subject to the execution of the relevant connection agreement between the Department of Defence and the Power and Water Corporation.
