Trade Waste Code approval

The Power and Water Corporation, as the holder of a sewerage supply services licence, is required to publish a code which must be approved by the Commission, setting out the conditions on which it will approve trade waste being discharged into its sewerage services infrastructure.

In 2017, Power and Water Corporation made a submission to the Commission to revise the Trade Waste Code to provide uniformity with contemporary industry practises, technological advances, regulatory obligations and compliance demands consistent with nationally accepted standards.

The Commission is satisfied that the Power and Water Corporation has appropriately consulted with relevant stakeholders, that the revised Trade Waste Code satisfies the requirements of the Water Supply and Sewerage Services Act 2000 and provides appropriate procedures for the management of trade waste, consistent with good industry practice and nationally accepted standards.
