The Commission published the Review of the Northern Territory Electricity Supply Licensing Regime (Stage 2) - Decision Paper on 25 January 2024.
The Commission is reviewing the operation of the Territory's electricity supply licensing regime. In this second stage of the licensing review, the Commission reviewed the form and content of electricity supply licenses.
The Commission has responsibility for performing licensing functions in the electricity supply industry under the Electricity Reform Act 2000. These functions include the power to grant licenses and to determine the conditions to be included in a licence.
Following consultation with stakeholders through publication of a Consultation Paper and consideration of stakeholder feedback, the Commission published its Decision Paper for Stage 2 of the licensing review, which provides the Commission's decisions on a new set of standard conditions for retail, generation and network licences.
Information on the first stage of the licensing review, which focusses on the coverage, relevance and flexibility (scope and design) of the regime, can be found on the project page for that stage.
