Consultation on the Draft Decision has now closed and the Commission is considering stakeholder feedback before making its final decision.
RTA Gove Pty Ltd holds an exemption from the need to hold a licence to operate in the electricity supply industry in Nhulunbuy, granted under section 87 of the Electricity Reform Act 2000. The licence exemption includes a requirement that the exemption document be reviewed at 3 year intervals from the date of issuance.
The Commission is reviewing the exemption document issued to RTA Gove Pty Ltd under section 87 of the Electricity Reform Act 2000 to ensure it remains fit-for-purpose and appropriate for the circumstances of Nhulunbuy.
In undertaking the review, the Commission has sought stakeholder views concerning the appropriateness of the current exemption terms and conditions for the circumstances at Nhulunbuy, and whether alternative or additional conditions are needed.
The review commenced in September 2023 with the publication of a Consultation Paper. Following consideration of matters raised in submissions received from stakeholders, the Commission published its Draft Decision in March 2024 for consultation. The Commission is currently considering feedback received from stakeholders on the Draft Decision.
