Complaints

If it is an emergency

If there is an immediate risk to life or property, call 000. If you see a dangerous situation involving Power and Water Corporation infrastructure, such as a fallen powerline, call 000 or Power and Water’s emergency line on 1800 245 090. For electricity, water or sewerage faults that are not dangerous or life-threatening, contact Power and Water on 1800 245 092 or use its online fault reporting form.

If you have a query or complaint about electricity, water or sewerage services, contact the business responsible for the issue first. This may be your electricity retailer, electricity network provider, or water and sewerage service provider. Contacting them first gives them an opportunity to respond and resolve the issue through their complaints process.

The Commission can investigate and help resolve complaints about the conduct or operations of licensed entities under the Utilities Commission Act 2000 and relevant industry legislation. However, the Commission’s role is limited. It is not an ombudsman and cannot resolve every customer complaint.
