Trade Waste Code

Under the Water Supply and Sewerage Services Act 2000, the Commission is responsible for approving a Trade Waste Code developed and published by a licensed sewerage service provider. The Code sets out the conditions under which trade waste may be discharged into the licensee's sewerage infrastructure.

Power and Water Corporation holds a Sewerage Supply Services Licence in the Northern Territory and is required to comply with the approved Trade Waste Code.

The Commission reviewed Power and Water Corporation's proposed Trade Waste Code and determined that it meets the requirements of the Water Supply and Sewerage Services Act 2000 and the conditions of its sewerage supply services licence.

On 28 April 2026, the Commission approved Power and Water Corporation’s Trade Waste Code, with the Code taking effect on 1 July 2026.

The approved Trade Waste Code is available on Power and Water Corporation’s website.
