Licence Variation Application - Uterne Power Plant Pty Ltd

On 20 January 2014, the Commission received a request from Epuron (as owner of Uterne Power Plant Pty Ltd) to vary the licence to operate the Uterne Power Plant (Uterne) in Alice Springs. The Commission issued an Independent Power Producer (IPP) licence to Uterne Power Plant Pty Ltd on 22 November 2010. In assessing a request for a licence variation, the Commission will have regard to the objectives of the Electricity Reform Act 2000 (ERA) and more specifically section 16.

Uterne owns and operates a 1 MWp solar photovoltaic power plant located near Alice Springs. All output from Uterne is sold to Power and Water Corporation (PWC) under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Uterne requests a variation to its licence to allow for an increase in generating capacity to 4 MWp.

Submissions are invited from market participants and interested parties by COB 10 February 2014.

An IPP licence is a version of a generation licence for those parties who do not wish to participate fully in the electricity supply market and generate electricity under contract for another generator.

Submissions can be sent to utilities.commission@nt.gov.au or GPO Box 915, Darwin NT 0801.
