Revocation of Electricity Pricing Order for Prescribed Class (750MWh to 2GWh) Contestable Customers in Darwin-Katherine (effective 1 August 2015)
Recognising that some customers would experience a significant price shock as they moved from the regulated non-contestable tariff to a cost-reflective contestable tariff, the Territory Government chose to intervene in the competition process to allow for the staged movement to cost-reflective prices.
Review of Retail Licences – Consultation Paper
In light of developments to the electricity industry in the Northern Territory, particularly the structural separation of the Power and Water Corporation (PWC), and increased retail competition in the Territory, the Commission is undertaking a review and considering appropriate amendments to all of the electricity retail licences that have been issued by the Commission, including those issued to PWC and Jacana Energy.
Transfer of Network Price Regulation to the AER
As part of the NT Government’s Electricity Market Reform program, responsibility for network price regulation and oversight of network access in accordance with the Electricity Networks (Third Party Access) Act and Code has been transferred to the Australian Energy Regulator with effect from 1 July 2015.
Power System Review 2013-14
The Utilities Commission (the Commission) has released the 2013-14 Power System Review. On an annual basis, the Commission is required by the Electricity Reform Act to prepare a Power System Review that reports on power system performance and capacity for the Darwin-Katherine, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek power systems.

22 May 2015 - Approval of Network Access Tariffs 2015-16
In accordance with clause 78(3) of the Electricity Networks (Third Party Access) Code, the Commission has approved the network access tariffs and charges for 2015-16, effective 1 July 2015.
20 May 2015 - Network (Variation) Price Determination
The Commission has made a Network (Variation) Price Determination to correct an error in the Side Constraint formula set out in the Formula Schedule of the 2014 Network Price Determination.
Approval of Amendments to the System Control Technical Code to introduce the Interim Electricity Wholesale Market
In accordance with clause 27A(3) of the Electricity Networks (Third Party Access) Code (“the Code”), the Commission hereby approves the amended System Control Technical Code, version 5.0, effective 27 May 2015.
Consultation - Proposed amendments to the System Control Technical Code to introduce an Interim Wholesale Electricity Market
In September 2013, the Treasurer requested the Commission undertake a review into appropriate wholesale market arrangements for the Territory, and to recommend preferred arrangements to be adopted initially in the Darwin-Katherine generation market.
