Consultation – Application for Retail Licence and Network Licence exemption – Department of Defence

The Commission has received an application from the Commonwealth of Australia, represented by the Department of Defence, for a licence to sell electricity and for an exemption from the need to hold a licence to operate an electricity network.

The Department of Defence is seeking to sell surplus electricity generated by Assure Energy from behind the meter solar PV generation at Robertson Barracks and RAAF Base Darwin to electricity entities holding a retail licence.

In accordance with good regulatory practice, the Commission seeks comments on the licence and exemption application from system participants and stakeholders. Any comments should be provided by Friday 6 March 2020.

Any comments or queries should be directed to Utilities Commission Office at utilities.commission@nt.gov.au or 08 8999 5480.

More information regarding the Department of Defence’s application can be found on the Retail licence and Network licence exemption application – Department of Defence project page.
