Network licence exemption – Department of Defence

The Commission, with the Minister’s approval, has issued the Commonwealth of Australia, represented by the Department of Defence a network licence exemption.

The exemption, granted under section 87(1) of the Electricity Reform Act 2000, provides that the Department of Defence is exempt from the requirement to hold a licence to own and operate an electricity network with respect to electricity network infrastructure located within Robertson Barracks and RAAF Darwin.

More information about the network licence exemption can be found on the Retail licence and network licence exemption application – Department of Defence project page.
