Consultation – Generation licence exemption application – Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited

The Commission has received an application from Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited for an exemption from the requirement to hold a generation licence in accordance with the Electricity Reform Act 2000.

Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited currently generates and sells electricity to RTA Gove Pty Limited in the Township of Nhulunbuy. RTA Gove Pty Limited, which operates under an exemption from the requirement to hold a generation licence, provides the electricity to its Gove mine operations and supplies the local town of Nhulunbuy. Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited is seeking an exemption from licensing for its operations under section 87 of the Electricity Reform Act 2000.

The Commission is seeking submissions from stakeholders on the application. Any submissions should be provided by 5pm (ACST) Thursday 22 May 2025.
