Generation licence exemption granted – Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited

The Commission has granted, with the approval of the Minister, a Section 87 Exemption to Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited from the requirement to hold a generation licence for its operations in Nhulunbuy. The Commission has published a Decision Summary that provides information on the reasons for the Commission’s decision to grant the exemption.

In March 2025, the Commission received an application from Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited requesting an exemption from the requirement to hold a licence under the Electricity Reform Act 2000. The Commission assessed Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited’s application and undertook a six-week consultation process on the application and received no submissions.

More information about Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited’s application for a generation licence exemption and the Commission’s decision process can be found on the Generation licence exemption application – Aggreko Generator Rentals Pty Limited project page.
