Consultation – 2024 Electricity Retail Supply Code Review (Retailer of Last Resort Amendments)

The Commission has initiated a review of the Electricity Retail Supply Code to implement a fulsome and legally enforceable retailer of last resort (RoLR) scheme in the Territory. The Commission has released a consultation paper for public consultation.

The purpose of a RoLR scheme is to ensure that in the event of an electricity retailer failure, arrangements are in place to ensure that relevant customers continue to receive electricity supply. In 2024, the Electricity Legislation Amendment Act 2023 commenced, providing the Commission with the requisite powers to implement a fulsome and legally effective RoLR scheme through the Electricity Retail Supply Code.

To initiate the review, the Commission has published a consultation paper which explains the background and outlines the Commission’s proposed approach, draft version 5 of the Electricity Retail Supply Code and summary table of proposed amendments. The Commission invites submissions on the proposed changes from stakeholders by 5pm (ACST) Monday 9 September 2024.

More information can be found on the Commission’s 2024 Electricity Retail Supply Code Review (RoLR Amendments) project page.
