Electricity Industry Performance Code and Guidelines
The current Electricity Industry Performance Code commenced on 1 July 2023, replacing version 1 of the Code.
The Electricity Industry Performance Code applies to electricity entities operating in the access-regulated networks of Darwin-Katherine, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek (excluding independent power producers) and in some instances, to parties with a licence exemption operating elsewhere in the NT. The Electricity Industry Performance Code includes:
- guaranteed service level performance indicators and payment amounts
- generation service performance indicators
- network service performance indicators and network target standards
- retail service performance indicators for small customers, including in relation to payment difficulties and hardship.
Guidelines
The Commission may publish guidelines relating to the application or interpretation of matters arising under the Electricity Industry Performance Code. The guidelines currently in force are:

Directions
The Commission may issue a direction to an electricity entity regarding any matter related to the Electricity Industry Performance Code, and an electricity entity must comply with the direction.
The Commission has issued the following directions:
The direction provides that generator entities are not required to report against certain performance indicators in relation to their intermittent generation (including solar photovoltaic systems) and/or batteries.
Electricity Industry Performance Code – Direction June 2023 (transitional matters)
The direction provides clarification regarding transitional matters following the variation to the Electricity Industry Performance Code (as varied on 8 June 2023). It is relevant only to historic reporting periods.
